Philipp Werner · English-Speaking Lawyer in KoblenzBetween the law and real life:
your matter comes first.

I represent your interests where close attention and plain words matter: in tenancy and inheritance law, estate curatorship, traffic law and general civil law. Advice available in English.

About me

Choosing a lawyer is above all a question of trust. It is not built on grand words, but on honest assessments, availability and advice that takes your situation seriously. So allow me to briefly introduce myself before you decide on a first conversation.

I am an attorney at law (Rechtsanwalt) in Koblenz and support people in matters that are rarely purely legal in nature: a dispute over a flat, an estate that needs to be settled, or an accident whose consequences reach further than the dented bumper. In such situations you need someone who listens, assesses the matter soberly and tells you frankly where you stand. Even when the answer is uncomfortable.

My aim is to make complex legal situations understandable and to work out practical solutions with you, rather than leaving you alone with the statutes. You come first as a person, not as a mere file number.

Justice depends on being understood. Clear communication is not a side issue but a precondition for the law to work at all. With family roots in Germany and Hong Kong, I grew up bilingually and know from my own experience how much depends on being understood. I therefore advise clients in English and support you whenever you, or the opposing party, face difficulties with the German language. Already during my studies I volunteered to support international students, and that experience shapes my work to this day.

Background

From the Rhine-Neckar region via Frankfurt to Koblenz.

A journey through many places, now at home in Koblenz.

Roots

Mannheim & Hong Kong

Born and first steps in Mannheim, with regular stays in the metropolis of Hong Kong.

School years

Ludwigshafen

Grew up an “Aniliner” child, as BASF families are known locally, and completed my Abitur (university entrance qualification).

Studies

Frankfurt & Beijing

Studied law at Goethe University Frankfurt, with a semester abroad at the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL); First State Examination in Hesse.

Today

Koblenz

Legal traineeship and Second State Examination in Rhineland-Palatinate; practising here as an attorney ever since.

Practice areas

Four focus areas, one principle: taking your matter seriously.

Tenancy law

Service charge statements, rent reductions, termination or eviction: in tenancy law, tangible interests and one's own home are often at stake. I advise and represent both landlords and tenants, review contracts and statements, and enforce your claims out of court and in court.

Inheritance law

An inheritance raises legal questions at an already difficult time. I assist with wills and anticipated succession, clarify lines of succession and compulsory shares, and represent you in disputes among co-heirs: forward-looking in planning, determined in litigation.

Estate curatorship

Where heirs are unknown or still to be identified, the estate must be secured and administered. As court-appointed estate curator (Nachlasspfleger) I take care of properly securing the assets, identifying the heirs and winding up the estate, reliably and in the interest of all parties involved.

Traffic law

Traffic law sits a little outside my other focus areas. But driving, and the freedom that comes with it, means a great deal to me personally, and whoever takes the wheel carries great responsibility and real legal risks. After an accident, the issues are damages, compensation for pain and suffering, and settlement with the insurer. In case of fines, penalty points or an impending driving ban, I assess your options.

General civil law

Beyond my main areas of interest, many everyday disputes fall under general civil law: contracts for work and services, sales contracts, defective performance, outstanding claims or contract drafting. I review your contracts, draft clear agreements and enforce your rights before a nuisance turns into lengthy litigation.

Your matter not listed?

Enquiries outside these focus areas are welcome at any time. A first conversation usually clarifies quickly whether I can take on your matter or refer you to the right place.

Office partnership

Stronger together – in office partnership with attorney Georg Spross

My practice shares offices (Bürogemeinschaft) with attorney Georg Spross. Mr Spross is a highly experienced Koblenz colleague. Both firms work independently, yet door to door.

For you, this means short distances, collegial professional exchange and a broader pool of experience we can draw on where needed. Your matter always remains in one hand: with the lawyer you trust.

Contact

Let's talk about your matter.

Tell me about your concern, by phone or e-mail, in German or English. As a first step, we will clarify together how I can support you. Appointments by arrangement, where needed also later in the day after regular working hours. Consultations are generally also available by video call.

Serving clients in Koblenz and the wider region: from Neuwied, Andernach and Mayen across the Westerwald and Montabaur to Lahnstein and Boppard, south to Mainz and north to Bonn.
